James developed and lead the Air Force's only Prior Service Sister Service Enlistee Orientation Course.

January 2005, he transitioned to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany where he served as NCOIC of Hematology and Urinalysis Studies. March 2010, Sergeant Johnson completed an unprecedented cross-train as a C-130 Flight Engineer. At this time, he transferred to the 40th Airlift Squadron, Dyess AFB, TX where he served as Flight Chief.

December of 2013 he moved to Little Rock, AFB and served as Instructor Flight Chief of the 50th Airlift Squadron. During his time as Flight Engineer, Sergeant Johnson has logged over 1,100 flight hours. 553.8 served in combat and 132.7 served in combat support while deploying frequently in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.

After retirement, he founded JJGRO Enterprises LLC where he devoted countless hours to learning about Industrial Hemp. In turn, he began assisting farmers across 10 different states through education, connections and consulting. James began reaching out to fellow Veterans helping them understand the Veteran Associations(VA's) system and how to optimize benefits. This led to several amazing opportunities including co-ownership of Active Duty RX and leading within the Battle On The Homefront community. Most recently, he and a group of fellow vets founded Veterans Scientific Laboratories. VSL will provide analytical laboratory services for cannabis growers to ensure consistency of testing in this emerging industry. No matter which path he chooses, the Air Force Core Values of Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in all you do will always be embedded in his DNA.
